Hemi arrived at 12:10 a.m on August 18, 2005. We knew Violet was close to foaling and were keeping an eagle eye on her...mostly via "Donkey TV" which is conveniently located right next to the bed. I woke at midnight, saw Violet beginning labor, zoomed up to the barn, and Hemi was born without assistance 10 minutes later.

Like all our jack foals, Hemi's official name comes from a tree...the graceful hemlock.

Why does that lunch counter keep moving?
