Frank arrived around 11:00 pm on June 5, 2005...almost exactly 12 months from the date Slipper was bred to Casper and of course 1 hour after I went to bed after a last look at "Donkey TV" which showed nothing much going on in the foaling stall except Slipper eating (as usual!).

This foal was extraordinarily lively--when I woke at 11:50 pm and saw him, he was running laps around Slipper, who was wearing the resigned martyr look even then. Within the hour, he was cantering and bucking around the stall...full of attitude just as his mother (and ALL her foals) was/is.

Like all our jack foals, Frank's official name comes from a tree name...the Franklinia is a native American tree first found in Georgia. It was named after Ben Franklin by an admiring botanist and his son.

This nice young jack has been sold.

Tulip Hill Franklinia ("Frank")
Dillard's Little Casper x Tulip Hill Ladyslipper
Approximately 23" tall, 30 lbs at birth

Photos below are Frank at not quite 12 hours of age

Wonder if the lunch counter is open...

This foal is very evenly marked from one side to the other.

He's full of attitude, just like his mother...

...But already in-your-face friendly, like all our foals.

What a mug, eh?!

When can a kid get some sleep around here?
